AWSLG Calendar of Events 2025

There are plans afoot for a main event hopefully to be held on Easter Monday, 21st April. To date no details are available as it has to be discussed in committee first. We would love to hear from you with offers of help. The more volunteers that come forward the better this event will be.

Saturday 15th March at 13.00 Asian Hornet Update - in the Hall

We have the opportunity to meet Tom Bickerdike, the Bee Inspector for the South East of England, who will give an update on the Asian Hornet, and what the National Bee Unit is doing about them. Tom will be speaking about some of the things that the NBU does that beekeepers aren't generally aware of. Tom has kept bees for 20 years and has about 14 colonies of his own. He describes himself as a 'slightly obsessed hobbyist'. He is now the permanent seasonal bee inspector for the south of England. That means he is central to dealing with the 'yellow-legged' hornet threat on top of his NBU bee- health work.

From Saturday 29th March: 9.00 - 11.30am Lawnmower Hire

The lawnmowers will be available to hire from Saturday the 29th of March for hire. The cost for a half tank of fuel is £4, and a full tank is £7. As always we need plot holders to take care of the lawn mowers, which should only be used for cutting the grass paths, not for clearing plots.
